Women's Work

It seems Obama doesn't walk the talk on equal pay for women, whereas McCain puts his money where Obama's mouth is. I guess nominating a female Vice President (Sarah Palin for those that haven't heard) would also up the stats even further. I wonder how Hillary would have done if she had been the Democrat of choice?
When Alaska governor Sarah Palin was named the Republican vice-presidential nominee, Obama told voters in Toledo, Ohio, on August 31 that “she’s opposed — like John McCain is — to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”

Obama’s commitment to federally mandated pay equity stretches from the Rockies to Wall Street and beyond. And yet it seems to have eluded his United States Senate office. Compensation figures for his legislative staff reveal that Obama pays women just 83 cents for every dollar his men make.

Obama’s criticism notwithstanding, McCain’s payment patterns are the stuff of feminist dreams..women in John McCain’s office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes. In fact, ceteris paribus, a typical female staffer could earn 21 cents more per dollar paid to her male counterpart — while adding $10,726 to her annual income — by leaving Barack Obama’s office and going to work for John McCain.

I suppose this is the usual case of "lies, lies, and damn statistics" but note it was Obama first flinging the mud he said he wasn't flinging that inspired the Republican fans to offer a counter opinion.

  1. zen, you atre showing yourself to be evry bit as shallow as palin herself.

Instead of bandying around the same sort of generalties the feminists do, why not post the actual examples of a woman being paid less for the same work - that is, after all, what equal pay means.

I am surprised this botehrs you anyway is Conservatives generally like to see wages set by market forces.

Still, say what you like about Obama, I doubt you can find a quote of his anywhere near is incomprehensible as this from Palin.

That's what I say that I like every American I am speaking with we're ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bailout, but ultimately what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, um, helping the, oh, it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and, and putting it back on the right track; so healthcare reform, and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans and trade we have we got to see trade as opportunity not as, a, a, competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today we, we've got to look at that as more opportunity, all of those things under the umbrella of job creation, this bailout is a part of that.”

And this from the woman you want to see as America's VP!

Let's hope the voters of America are smarter than this dumb bitch.

  2. Rex, before you tell me what my opinions supposedly are, you need to read my post again. Carefully.

You also have a quote from Palin that is part of a conversation, so I don't find it as incomprehensible as you do given I understand the context.

Joe Biden in his debate said a whole lot of things quite fluently, trouble was there's already a list of at least 14 outright lies he made. At least it was eloquent though, right?

"dumb bitch"? That wouldn't be a Freudian slip would it Rex? Equal pay for dumb bitches? It's no wonder you missed some of the points made in the post.

  3. And here I was, just about to delete that comment from Rex because of the "dumb b****" comment on the end.

Consider yourself warned, Rex. Future comments of the sort will be deleted, no matter what else the comment contains.

  4. Looks like someone's a bit tetchy today.

I am well aware of the conext bof Palin's words. She was alone, without a script or a teleprompter and YOU think she'd be a match for Putin because they're next door neighbours?

  5. Looks like Rex is suffering from PDS already, can't even comment coherently amidst the name calling and Caps.

Here is Obama without his teleprompter -

Hopefully the leftists yearning for free speech and squealing about censorship won't have squashed it by now.

Yeah, a fine match against Putin.

  7. Continuing with Rex's implicit challenge that Palin is stupid and Biden is smart, how's this:

Biden: When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"

A neat trick given that Herbert Hoover was president in 1929 and television was not yet invented.

Here's a whole bunch of Biden Bad 'uns: Oops, My Bad, says Biden
