Get back on your broomstick

Idiot/Savant seems very upset that Judith Tizard was told to get back on her broomstick. He considers that the inference that Tizard is a witch to be misogyny as only "uppity women" are called witches.

Which got me thinking. How does a person leap from a woman being called a witch to considering any one that calls a woman a witch to be misogynistic? Then it struck me - those that consider anything calling to mind a woman to be an insult. Especially if the object of the insult is indeed a woman.

In other words, the ultimate insult is to be called a woman. A gender-neutral term is ok, because then the woman is not reminded that she is a woman. All the gender-neutral people are happy because to be a woman of any sort, except a gender-neutral woman, is obviously insulting.

So it all makes sense now.

  1. I'm still trying to figure that out myself. IMO, Coleman was an obnoxious ass who should have apologized for lowering himself to Tizard's level - which I'd regard as unacceptable in a toddler, let alone a Parliamentarian.

But a pathological woman-hater? Only if Tizard herself - and assistant speaker Ann Hartley who didn't uphold her point of order - are too.

  2. It seems very important for lefties to analyze the particular offensive term and categorize it as proof of a graver offence.

If a comment concerning a gay person is noted, you can escalate it to "homophobe". A "witch" is now proof of Misogyny?

Simply by re-classifying the term into one of the great Politically Correct lefty groupthinks, and a whole lot of automatic abuse can be heaped onto the perpetrator.

I find it a little hysterical.

There is one thing Idiot may have overlooked. Coleman may just not like Tizzard. He may not think of women at all when he thinks of Tizzard. That would make him truly egalitarian.

And whilst the left rail against the odd slur against one of the preferred special interest groups, they don't seem to think much of handing out abuse in the other direction.

Idiot did a post where he defended the EB being called "chinless scarf wearers". Oh sure, it is insulting he says, but the member was forced to withdraw and apologise, and they deserved it" seemed to be his position.

They published some brochures that Idiot tries to pass off as "hate speech".

Rubbish. They were a fisking of policy. So much for being entitled to express an opinion.

    Here's the link: Hate Speech

You might want to stop and laugh at the bit where Idiot says: "But here, I think the Brethren are being a little bit too precious, particularly given their willingness to sling the shit around themselves. "

Think he's being a bit precious about standing up for Tizzard here?

Maybe I can agree with Idiot: Calling a group of women "Chinless Scarf Wearers" is misogynistic, no?

Let's see him get stuck into Mallard with the same principled vigor.

  4. Think you'll find my response worth reading here.

    I love his comment:
"one which thinks it is quite acceptable in this day and age to openly refer to "feminazis" and "the sisterhood", and make snide remarks about a "lesbian cabal". At the same time, of course, it is trying to win women's votes."

Heh, that *is* wining women's votes. Duh.
